Gurugram police solved a blind murder case.
Two arrested with cash for dumping body in Pataudi after kidnapping and murder.
On September 23, 2022, police recovered a body of an unidentified person from village Rajpura in PS Pataudi area. The scene of crime was examined minutely by forensic and fingerprint experts. Police recovered a blood-stained knife from the spot and the body, which had clothes soaked in blood, was estimated to be of a male who was around 40 years old. An FIR was registered u/s 302 IPC at PS Pataudi.
After continuous effort and investigation, police remained successful in identifying the body as of one Dilip Kumar Mehta, a resident of JJ Colony at Madipur, Delhi. He was presently living in a rented accommodation in Rewari, Haryana. During the course of investigation, Sections 394 and 397 of IPC were added in the FIR.
Crime branch team led by SI Amit Kumar gathered vital clues on basis of which two accused arrested Krishan Kumar (35 years) and Asim Banerjee (32 years)
from Alipur Dwar in West Bengal on September 26, 2022 and were taken on 3 days transit remand.
During interrogation, they revealed that accused Krishan originally a native of Rewari, married a woman in Assam four years back and settled there. Krishan, meanwhile, hatched a conspiracy with Assam resident Asim to loot a food joint after abducting and killing the shop owner.
With this plan, both reached Rewari on September 12, 2022 and carried out recce of the shop for two days. On September 15, they purchased a knife and a pointed object used for breaking large ice chunks. They tried to execute their plan of abducting the shop owner on September 16 but, he had left to offer his prayers at Khatu Shyam Ji temple. Thus, they changed their plan and abducted Mehta who worked in oil supply tankers.
Krishan already knew Mehta and had a hunch that they could get a hefty sum of money from him. On September 22, they reached Mehta’s rented accommodation in Rewari and took him with themselves citing the requirement of some help. They tied him inside a Creta car and threatened him to give Rs 15 lakh. However, Mehta managed to give them Rs 9 lakh via a friend after asking him to arrange some money. Krishan and Asim later murdered Mehta and dumped the body in Pataudi. They also looted a gold chain, finger ring and Mehta’s car which was later recovered by police from the area of PS Kherki Daula in abandoned condition.
Both the accused also confessed before police that they had planned to take Rs 50 lakh from the food joint owner after kidnapping him post Dussehra. They would have later murdered him.
Police have recovered Rs 9 lakh taken from Mehta’s friend from the duo’s possession. They were produced before the court and taken on police remand for 5 days to recover the looted gold chain and finger ring. The probe is underway.
