CUH Launches National Nutrition Month 2026 with Nutrition Awareness Rally
Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, commenced the celebrations of National Nutrition Month 2026 with a Nutrition Awareness Rally organized to promote the importance of balanced nutrition, healthy dietary practices and nutritional well-being among the community. The rally was flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar from the University campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, students and staff of the University.
Addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that adequate and balanced nutrition is the foundation of a healthy and productive society. Further stressed that nutrition awareness must extend beyond the classroom and reach every section of society, particularly children and families in rural and underserved communities. He encouraged students and faculty members to actively participate in community-based initiatives and contribute towards achieving the vision of a healthy, malnutrition-free and nutritionally empowered society. He appreciated the efforts of the Department of Nutrition Biology in organizing the programme and taking nutrition awareness activities to the community.
Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma also joined rally and highlighted the importance of awareness regarding balanced diets, prevention of malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, consumption of locally available nutritious foods, and adoption of healthy lifestyle practices. The Registrar, Prof. Suneel Kumar appreciated the initiative and emphasized that nutrition awareness programmes play an important role in sensitizing students and the community towards healthy eating habits, nutritional well-being and the prevention of malnutrition.
The Programme Convenors, Dr. Anita Kumari and Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Department of Nutrition Biology highlighted the importance of translating nutrition knowledge into healthy dietary practices and emphasized the role of educational institutions in creating awareness about nutrition, food security and healthy lifestyles. The rally featured nutrition awareness slogans, placards and messages highlighting the significance of balanced diets, healthy food choices, prevention triple burden of nutrition and promotion of locally available nutritious foods. The students enthusiastically spread the message of “Nutrition for All” across the University campus and surrounding community.
The Head, Department of Nutrition Biology, Prof. Umesh Kumar, briefed about month-long programme features a wide range of activities; establishment of POSHAN VATIKA in the university campus, expert talks, community outreach programmes in adopted villages of CUH, rallies, fruit plantation drives in schools, debates, poster competitions, quizzes, nutritional educational plays and puppet shows etc. He congratulated the programme convenors to promote nutrition literacy, creating awareness among communities, and encouraging healthy, balanced and sustainable food practices.
Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Dean Research and Prof. Pawan Kumar Maurya, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences congratulated convenors and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Nutrition Biology towards promoting nutrition awareness, healthy eating practices and the vision of a nutritionally secure society. They applauded the active participation and dedication of the faculty members and students of the Department, whose collective efforts contributed significantly to making the event a grand success.
