-Working condition of Pumping Machinery and DG Sets were tested to curb any incidence of waterlogging during the monsoon season.
Gurugram। Ajay Vaishnav। As part of the flood preparedness initiatives being taken up by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) ahead of the upcoming monsoon season; the mock drills scheduled of the underpasses at Ambiance Mall and Shankar Chowk were successfully carried out today by GMDA. During the mock drill, the pumping machinery, DG Sets and efficacy of the drainage network were tested, in order to curb any incidence of waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon season. Present were officials of GMDA and NHAI.
Recycled water from fire tender was released into the underground sumps in the underpasses. Once the sumps were filled, the pumps were activated to check their working in pumping out the water. All the he pumping machinery and DG sets installed in the underpasses were found to be functioning to their full capacity.
The Authority has scheduled the mock drills in all the underpasses in the city. These mock drills at the underpasses will help gauge the on-ground situation and to assess the functioning of the dewatering pumping system in the underpasses to curb any occurrence of waterlogging during heavy rainfall period.
These mock drills will be carried out by GMDA along with officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), PWD & DLF as per the areas falling under their respective jurisdictions as per the below mentioned dates.
Under NHAI the mock drills have been scheduled as follows:
Iffco Chowk Metro Station to MG Road and Dhanwapur Underpass on 6th May, Vatika Chowk & Signature Tower on 7th May, Rajiv Chowk and Medanta Road on 8th May, Hero Honda Chowk on 9th May, Sector- 110/113 and Sector- 109/110 Underpasses on 12th May, Sector- 102/104 Underpass on 13th May and Sector 84/36B underpass on 14th May.
Under DLF, the schedule is as follows:
Both U-turn underpasses in DLF Cyber city on 6th May, Sikanderpur Underpass on 7th May,DLF Phase-I underpass on 8th May and Genpact Underpass on 9th May.
GMDA will also conduct the mock drills along with PWD officials at Atul Kataria Chowk on 10th May and at Mahavir Chowk on 11th May. The mock drill at Huda City Center underpass will be carried out by GMDA on 8th May.
During the mock drills, traffic will continue to ply as normal in the underpasses and all lanes will be open to commuters.
