Two teams of GMDA and four teams of MCG jointly planned the drive strategically to clear the encroachment and provide relief to residents and commuters on this stretch. MG road is considered to be a major road of the city and several commercial and group housing societies are situated on this road. Continuous demands for removal of encroachment had been received from the residents of the area.

MG Road is a no vending zone and no carts or other vendors are allowed to operate on this stretch. Two major areas were covered in the drive which included one near MG Metro Station / Heritage City and another near Iffco Chowk / Beverly Park 1 society. About 40 illegal carts were demolished in the drive today. Prior to the drive, regular awareness visits were conducted by both GMDA and MCG to make the vendors aware of the issue of encroachment and directives were issued to clear the area.*
Speaking on the action taken on MG Road, R.S Batth, Nodal Officer for removal of encroachment in Gurugram and DTP GMDA, said, “We are on the job and assure residents that regular drives will be conducted on MG road so that the encroachment gets removed permanently. We will also check if any local person or mafia is involved in stationing such illegal carts on this stretch. We have been informed that some miscreants charge these cart owners and no such illegal activity will be allowed. All cart owners are advised to obtain the permits and to park their carts in designated spots.”
Though the encroachment on MG road were temporary in nature, regular drives will be carried out to keep the area clear of any encroachment.
