First Review Meeting Held on Anti-Encroachment Action Plan in Gurugram

- Over 70 locations cleared, 130 acres of govt land reclaimed; intensified drives planned till mid-September


Gurugram, August 8: The first review meeting for removal of encroachments in Gurugram was chaired by District Nodal Officer, Sh. R.S. Batth, with participation from enforcement teams of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Traffic Police Department, and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). Around 80 field officials, including all Junior Engineers and their subordinate staff, were present.


During the meeting, progress made over the last four months over various enforcement drives conducted by the local administration was reviewed. The findings indicated that since December 2024, approximately 120 anti-encroachment drives and 500 inspection visits have been conducted by Enforcement Teams and action was taken at 70 plus locations. In the last four months itself, 80 drives have been conducted targeting different locations.


Key Highlights of the drives taken towards making Gurugram city encroachment-free:


Major Achievements:

- About 80% encroachment removed from 60% of targeted areas, including Souther Peripheral Road, Sadar Bazar, Trunk Market, Rajendra Park, Sabji Mandi, Ghasola Road, New Colony Road, Rajiv Nagar, Sheetla Mata Road, Mohammadpur Jharsa, Sohna Road, Sector-31 Market, parts of Badshahpur, 84/88 Dividing Road, Krishna Chowk, and Bikaner Chowk.

- Clearance of 45 acres of government land in Sector-21/22, 62, 63, Badshahpur, Naurangpur, Kasan, and Khoh villages.

- Clearance of 60 acres of green belt along SPR Road.

- Action taken on a 60 km stretch of city roads.

Ongoing Monitoring:

- Areas such as MG Road, Rajiv Chowk, Bus Stand Road, Old Gurugram (near church), and Sanath Road will continue to be monitored by the concerned departments through regular drives to ensure that re-encroachment does not occur at these locations.


New Focus Areas to be targeted in next one month:

- In the meeting it was outlined by the Nodal Officer that the areas to be taken into focus for conducting enforcement drives would include New Railway Road, Old Railway Road, Jharsa Road, Fazilpur Road, Tikri Road, Park Hospital Road, Prakashpuri Chowk to Dhanwapur, Utility Corridor (Sector-90), Bhim Nagar, Sikanderpur Market, Sector-4/14/22/23 markets, Ardee City, Sector-31 Green Belt, and Dhundahera. Requests have been received from residents to clear the encroachments in these areas and necessary action is to be taken up as per the Action Plan.


Significant Outcomes

- It was presented in the meeting that removal of illegal meat shop in Nathupur, Hari Nagar, Khandsa Road, Vatika Chowk, Sheetla Mata Road, Rajendra Park, Rajiv Nagar, and Kanhai village had been done during the anti-encroachment drives. As a result, many operators are now applying for proper licenses to continue their operations..

- Clearance of illegal Gau Shalas from government land, wherein 1 acre area was reclaimed at Vatika Chowk.


Elaborating on the Action Plan ahead, R.S Baath said that, “Five dedicated teams, each comprising 5–8 members, will conduct anti-encroachment drives daily from 15 August to 15 September, covering five locations per day. Public participation will remain a key component of the campaign.”


He also emphasized that sustained monitoring, community awareness, and coordinated inter-agency efforts are essential to keeping public spaces encroachment-free.
