-Mock Drill conducted today at the Rajeev Chowk underpass
-Five of the eight pump sets installed in the underpass were found to be non-operational due to electric malfunction; NHAI to rectify the issue.
Gurugram, 23 May 2024: A mock drill of the underpass at Rajeev Chowk was conducted today by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority alongwith the officials of NHAI. The drill was conducted as part of the ongoing mock drills being held at all the underpasses in the city as part of the flood preparedness initiatives of GMDA ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
During the drill, recycled water from fire tender was released into the underground sumps in the underpass. Once the sumps were filled, the pumps were activated to check their working and efficacy in pumping out the water.
It was detected that out of the eight number of pumps installed in the underpass, only three pump sets were working properly. The remaining five pumps were non-functional due to electric malfunction.
NHAI has been requested to rectify the cable fault detected during the drill today at the earliest in order to ensure the working of all eight pump sets. NHAI has also undertaken the rectification work of the non-operational pumps detected during the mock drill at the underpass from IFFCO Chowk Metro Station to MG road which was conducted last Friday.
The mock drills conducted earlier by GMDA at the underpasses of Ambiance Mall, Shankar Chowk and Signature Tower have been successful and all the pumping machinery and DG sets installed in the underpasses were found to be in working condition.
Next in the schedule are mock drills at the underpasses of Hero Honda Chowk and Medanta Road.
Simultaneously, the mock drills for the underpasses on Golf Course Road will be also be undertaken along with DLF. These include mock drills of both the U-turn underpasses in DLF Cyber city, Sikanderpur Underpass, DLF Phase 1 underpass & the Genpact underpass.
Along with PWD officials, the mock drills of the underpass at Atul Kataria Chowk and at Mahavir Chowk as well as the Huda City Centre underpass will also be carried out.
