- GMDA Rolls Out Phase 2 of CCTV Surveillance Project
- 2722 additional cameras to be installed at 258 locations
- Will boost CCTV Surveillance and monitoring of traffic violations in the city
Gurugram, July 4 2025: After the successful execution of Phase I of its CCTV Camera Project in Gurugram, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will now launch its Phase 2 of the CCTV Camera Project to further strengthen surveillance and enhance vigilance in the city. The tender which was recently approved for allotment by Haryana Chief Minister in the High-Powered Works Purchase Committee Meeting, has been awarded to the agency by the Authority.
Increased Surveillance across Wider Geographies
Under Phase 2 of CCTV project, additional 2722 hi-tech CCTV Cameras will be installed at 258 locations covering Sohna, Badshahpur, Pataudi, Faruknagar, Dhankot, Chandu Budhera, Panchgaon, Bilaspur, Hailey Mandi, Dwarka Expressway (Sector 89 to 108), Toll locations along KMP Expressway (Badli, Farruknagar, Pataudi & Manesar), Central Peripheral Expressway, etc.
Furthermore, GMDA will also lay approximately 300 Kms of additional underground Optical Fiber Cable for connecting these new locations to the Integrated Command and Control Centre of GMDA, wherein the live CCTV feed will be monitored 24x7 by the concerned teams of Gurugram Police and Gurugram Traffic Police.
Traffic Management & Issuance of Challans
Under Phase 1, GMDA had successfully installed 1200 cameras at 218 junctions in Gurugram and Manesar areas and their feed is monitored in the ICCC of GMDA where traffic challans are also issued for violations of traffic rules.
Similar to Phase 1, CCTV cameras which will be installed in Phase 2, will also be equipped with AI technologies and Adaptive Traffic Management System to detect Red Light/Stop line Violation, Helmet Violation, Wrong-Side / Triple riding Violation, Speed Violation and Lane Changing Violation among others. Regular e-challans are being issued for various traffic violations pertaining to jumping red-lights, zebra crossings, wrong side driving, triple riding, parking violation, not wearing helmets or seat belts and on vehicles without high security number plate by Gurugram Traffic Police.
Face Recognition Cameras
In addition to CCTV surveillance cameras, (GMDA) has also installed 48 face recognition cameras at various key locations in the city which include District Court, Mini Secretariat, MG Metro Station, Sikanderpur metro station, Civil Hospital, Tau Devi Lal stadium, Sheetla Mata Mandir premises, Gurugram Bus Stand and Sadar Bazaar. In line with the requirement of the Police Department, these face recognition cameras are being used for general surveillance, as well as via artificial intelligence face recognition support in the detection and tracing of persons with doubtful credentials, offenders and missing persons reported to the police department.
“GMDA is further expanding the scope of surveillance in the city and is closely working with the Police and Traffic departments for the installation of CCTV cameras at key locations to include wider geographies in Gurugram & Manesar areas falling under the GMDA jurisdiction. Under Phase II, 2722 hi-tech CCTV Cameras will be installed at 258 locations which will be instrumental in boosting both traffic monitoring & safety in Gurugram,” said P.K.
