Delegation from Urban Development & Housing Department, Govt. of Bihar visits GMDA office

Gurugram, 30 January: A delegation from the Urban Development & Housing Department (UD&HD), Government of Bihar visited the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office today to gain insights into the structure, functioning and institutional framework of the Authority. CEO GMDA Shri P.C. Meena interacted with the delegation and discussed key urban development priorities, integrated planning initiatives, governance reforms and technology-enabled interventions aimed at strengthening citizen-centric service delivery. 


A meeting was further chaired by Shri Vishwajeet Chaudhary, Additional CEO, GMDA during which the exposure visit team was given an in-depth understanding of GMDA’s working model, structure and the various initiatives being implemented towards developing Gurugram as a modern, planned and technology-driven city. Detailed presentations on the Authority’s core functions across infrastructure, mobility, urban planning and public service delivery were presented to elaborate on the integrated planning approach, ongoing initiatives and future roadmap of GMDA. An outline of the drainage and sewerage augmentation works, road infrastructure improvements and planned urban mobility solutions was showcased. 



Senior officers from UD&HD, Government of Bihar who were part of the visit included Shri Rajiv Kumar Shrivastav IAS, Special Secretary, Shri Vijay Prakash Meena IAS, Additional Secretary, Shri Manoj Kumar, B.A.S., Additional Secretary, Shri Abhishek Palasia, I.A.S., Municipal Commissioner, Gaya, Shri Anupam Sunil, Assistant Town Planning Supervisor (ATPS), Patna Metropolitan Area Authority, UD&HD, Shri Sumit Ranjan, Assistant Architect, UD&HD, Shri Vaibhav Bhatnagar, Town Planner, PMU, UD&HD.


The visiting delegation was also provided a detailed tour of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), where services being delivered by the Smart City Wing of GMDA were showcased through live demonstrations. The delegation was apprised of the ICCC’s role in integrated monitoring and management of key civic services, including real-time surveillance, traffic and mobility management, emergency response coordination and citizen-centric service delivery. Discussions were held on smart solutions, technology interventions, system integration and the setting up and scaling of ICCC operations. 


The representatives also expressed interest in understanding the township development model, policy framework of the Government of Haryana, and challenges faced during implementation. Since the Patna Metropolitan Area Authority has been established, the delegation sought key learnings and best practices that could be adopted to further strengthen urban development and planned urbanization in the State. They will also be visiting various key project sites of GMDA such as Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sheetla Mata Hospital & College, WTP Basai and STP Behrampur.
